Join Us for Our NAIDOC Week Sausage Sizzle!

As part of our NAIDOC Week 2026 celebrations, Mackay West State School invites all students to come together for a fun-filled Sausage Sizzle Day in support of our Indigenous education initiatives.

On Friday, 31 July, students are encouraged to wear red, yellow and black to celebrate the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while marking this year's national NAIDOC theme, "50 Years of Being Deadly."

During Second Break, students will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation, with all proceeds helping to support future Indigenous cultural programs and activities at our school.

Event Details

🕛 Time: Second Break

💰 Cost: Gold Coin Donation

👕 Dress: Wear something red, yellow and black!

NAIDOC Week provides an important opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the world's oldest continuous living cultures and recognise the significant contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made—and continue to make—to our nation.

We encourage everyone to get involved by dressing in the colours of NAIDOC Week, sharing in a tasty lunch with friends and taking the opportunity to celebrate, learn and reflect together.

Thank you to our wonderful staff, volunteers and supporters who make events like this possible. We look forward to seeing our students proudly showing their support and helping us celebrate 50 Years of Being Deadly as one united school community.
