4 great reasons to volunteer at tuckshop

  • It’s only 2-3 hours of easy food prep.
  • You’ll get a free café style coffee/ tea (and sometimes a cupcake, too!)
  • You’ll get a $5 tuckshop voucher.
  • You’ll get to have a laugh and solve the world’s problems with a cool bunch!

Feel free to bring a friend with you to help out – the more hands we have the better.

We also encourage Dads and Grandparents to join us!

Are you able to spare any time to help out at the junior or senior tuckshops?

Our convenors are friendly school mums who care about getting your children’s lunch orders out fresh, warm and on time. We would love to meet mums, dads, grandparents and carers who can spare a little time to help us out. It is a great way to make friends and to become part of the school community. Your children will love seeing you at school – it gives them a wonderful sense of belonging, especially if you are new to our school community.

There are a few ways you can offer your  time at tuckshop:

  • Help with food preparation – come in anytime between 9 and 11am. Our busiest time is between 10.30 and 11am when we are bagging up the food just before break so that it is warm when your children collect it. As little as 10 minutes after school drop-off, or parade, too, is a big help to us.
  • Help us print and distribute menus or specials (twice a term) – sometimes it is a quick trip to the office to photocopy and put the menus or special forms into classes to send home to families.
  • Pop in for 15 mins anytime and help stock the fridge (and have a friendly chat!). The senior tuckshop goes through a lot of drinks and ice blocks and we appreciate someone filling our fridge for us. This is a great way to see what goes on at tuckshop without committing to a morning of volunteering!
  • Help us with food prep on busy sports days (pop in and out when you like during the day so you can still watch your children ‘s events). We always need help to put food into baskets for each class, ready for the Class Captains to collect. Our busiest time is between 10.30 and 11am and then again between 1 and 1.15pm.

Ring/text Leanne on 0409 218 547 to register your interest or email the P&C at PandC@mackaywestss.eq.edu.au and we’ll pass your information on.
