Please ensure clothing is sunsafe (i.e – must have sleeves & collar preferred).
  • There will be an early lunch at 1:00 p.m.  Lunch will end at 1.15pm, rolls will be marked & teachers and escort their students to the oval, where they will remain seated in allocated house shades. Students must stay under their house tents until their events are called. After running their event students will meet under H block to get a drink & cool down before returning to their house areas.
  • All students are expected to participate.  Even if a student only walks 1 lap, they will earn a point for their house!  If your child is unable to participate due to medical issues, please make contact with your child's classroom teacher.
  • Students are responsible for bringing their own hats and water bottles.
  • If required, some students may have to run with their asthma puffers on their person. Other asthma puffers will be allocated with teachers at different stations.
  • All races will run as combined age groups/ years of birth races.  Results will be recorded as separate genders in each age group.
  • The first 5 finishers will be sent to the recording table to ensure they have their place recorded. Students (boys & girls) placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their respective age groups will earn a ribbon.
  • After an allotted period of time for each race, a whistle will sound and all students on course will make their way back to the start/finish line to join the rest of their year level/age group.  Course Marshalls will assist with ushering students back to the start/finish line.
  • Presentations of age champions and overall House Champions will take place at Assembly next Friday.
  • Top 5 place getters in the 10 years, 11 years and 12 years age groups will be considered for selection in the Mackay West School Cross Country Team to compete at the Southern Suburbs Sub-District Cross Country Trials. Even though a child may place  5th  they may not necessarily be invited to trial at Southern Suburbs Cross Country.  ie. if a student is walking a majority of the course but still places in the top 6, they will not be selected to compete at the next level. Students must be fit, competitive and capable of competing at a higher level.
