At Mackay West State School we offer a Pre Prep Program aimed towards
all students attending school for the following year. The program runs
during Term 3 and Term 4 and is run by one of our Prep teachers. Students
attend the Junior Campus library for 2 hours accompanied by an adult where they
participate in fun activities that will support their transition to Prep.
This program allows students to feel comfortable in the school setting as well
as meeting new friends before their first day of school.
Participation in the program promotes readiness for the school environment, routines and socialisation skills whilst also affording parents and guardians advice and ideas for preparing the family for their child's first year of formal learning.
The program is open to preschool-aged children of all ages with special components and activites geared specifically towards children enrolling for school the following year.
