Vehicular traffic at 3.00pm

The end of the school day is always a busy time around all schools in Queensland and requires a collaborative approach from schools, parents and the wider community to be effective.
As a school, we staff "Stop, Drop and Go" areas on both campuses to allow students to be supervised before being collected by parents/carers without having to park and collect.  There is absolutely no benefit to arriving at these areas before 2.50pm (the conclusion of the school day on Junior Campus), or 3.00pm (the conclusion of the school day on Senior Campus).  If you are arriving before these times you are creating the traffic issues around our school as there are no students to collect – they are still to leave their classrooms.  The best time(s) to arrive are shortly after 2.50pm (junior campus) or 3.00pm (senior campus).  This will allow staff to load cars quite quickly and avoid having cars waiting whilst students are making their way from their classroom to the Stop, Drop, Go area.  This will also lessen the traffic congestion along Bridge Rd and Pinder St as cars back-up as no one can move.
For parents and carers accessing the Junior Campus car park, please be mindful of students and other parents who are walking to their cars.  Your speed should be at a walking pace ie 5 km/hour.  We have had a number of “near misses” reported this week with speed and lack of due diligence the cause of these near misses.
We have contacted QPS to patrol the streets around our school at pick-up time to direct vehicles that are illegally parked along Bridge Rd and Pinder St.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation to allow smooth flow of traffic at the end of the school day.
