Thursday 24 April, 2025
Parents and Community Members are cordially invited to attend the Mackay West State
School ANZAC Day Commemoration.
ANZAC Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most
important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought
by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
Please join with staff and
students here at Mackay West State School as we honour those who have served our country.
When: Thursday 24 April, commencing 9.00am
(Family & Community members seated by 8.50am please)
Where: West Wing, Senior Campus, Pinder Street
Our commemoration will begin with our National Anthem led by our ANZAC Choir, the lowering
of the flags, followed by readings and other messages. Guest speakers will share ANZAC
stories before our Roll of Remembrance and the Laying of the Wreath.
This will be a Whole School ceremony from Prep to Year 6. All are welcome to join us for
this moving tribute to the fallen.
Please check recent newsletters for further details - in particular, our Roll of Remembrance submissions & participation in the Community March on the ANZAC Day public holiday.
